Director of Athletics
The 12th Man plays an important role in Texas A&M’s mission of “Building Champions,” and your role is one of the most important of all. Your support, dedication and attendance is the foundation for an outstanding atmosphere which helps our teams win now. It also creates a great recruitment advantage, which helps our future Aggie teams win. Most importantly it creates a successful Home Field Advantage, which intimidates opponents, inspires the athletes and makes the entire gameday experience in Aggieland the best in the nation.
The 2008-2009 season marks the sixth year of the 12th Man Team Rewards Program and I am proud to say that it has growth in strength and effectiveness each and every year. For proof, simply look at a few highlights from last year:
A record setting eight Big 12 Championships
Soccer, Women’s Swimming, Women’s Indoor Track & Field, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Outdoor Track & Field, Softball, and Baseball.
The 2007-2008 State Farm Lone Star Showdown Championship against the University of Texas.
The highest finish ever in the Director’s Cup standings
Nine sports finished ranked nationally in the Top 10
Women’s Basketball, Women’s Swimming & Diving, Men’s Indoor Track & Field, Women’s Indoor Track & Field, Women’s Golf, Softball, Men’s Track & Field, Women’s Track & Field and Baseball
An appearance in the championship series of the Women’s College World Series
The Elite Eight in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament
None of that would have been possible without the power of the 12th Man. This is home…and I am excited to see what happens this year as Texas A&M continues Building Champions
Gig’em, Aggies!
